Fill in the blanks using the correct word given in brackets :

(i) All circles are similar.

(ii) All squares are similar.

(iii) All equilateral triangles are similar.

(iv) Two polygons of the same number of sides are similar, if

       (a) their corresponding angles are equal and

       (b) their corresponding sides are proportional.

Give two different examples of pair of

(i) similar figures

  • All circles are similar
  • All squares are similar
  • All equilateral triangles are similar

(ii) non-similar figures

  • A circle and a square
  • A square and a triangle
  • A right angled triangle and an equilateral triangle

Question 3

State whether the following quadrilaterals are similar or not:

No, because all the corresponding angles in the figures are not equal. 

Detail (Optional): All angles of a square are equal to 90 degrees where all of the angles in the rhombus are not equal to 90 degree. Hence the figures are not similar.
